Jon Kamrath grew up in St. Paul, MN. He attended small private Christian grade and high schools, and spent his summers working as a finish carpenter with his father. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Concordia College in Moorhead MN in 2003, where he met his wife Heidi. After undergraduate school, Jon taught fifth through eighth grade art in Fergus Falls Middle School in Fergus Falls, MN for a year and a half. After this Jon and Heidi moved to Iowa where Heidi began attending medical school at Des Moines University and Jon went to Iowa State University in Ames. From here he received his MFA in Integrated Visual Arts (sculpture) in 2008. With this degree Jon is looking for a job teaching art in the twin cities area of MN.

Jon Kamrath enjoys working in many mediums including ceramics, wood, and various metals. The majority of his formal training at the graduate level has been in ceramic and wood sculpture, and his favorite techniques usually involve the combination of two or more different mediums. Jon has been in both solo and juried group shows in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa. He has pieces in both public and private collections, including The Rourke Art Museum, Iowa State University, and Des Moines University.
